Nurturing Communities!

If you plan cities for cars and traffic, you get cars and traffic. If you plan for people and places, you get people and places.”

To evolve, cities must be viewed as platforms, with populations encouraged to utilize technology to creatively disrupt and redefine core functionalities. By evolving how we use and share data, a new generation of informed decision-makers will be able to transform our communities. Cities design and interventions represent key decision making challenges with the majority of people in cities coming to live in cities in the near future. The core of this research aims to underline the importance of correlating urban, social and environmental data ecosystems for a better planning, execution and implementation at the many levels of the design process. Bringing Systemic

Thinking into the play of Urban Infrastructure, making use of live datasets and linking it with human agent collectives, enables various layers of information and combines it with computational power. As a result the research contributes to the creation of new knowledge and feeds into an integrated and holistic tool that highlights what variables are key to promote a resilient public space and how they relate with each other to aid policy and decision making within the design process.

The need for a tool to support the dissemination of good practices in Urban Acupuncture among the community can be extremely valuable to preserve the character and identify of the city spaces in this age of information, changing the perception of our constructed reality and leading to better decision-making processes.
